Governor Bill Ritter has until the end of the month to decide if he’ll formally protest the federal leasing of the Roan Plateau for natural gas drilling. Over objections from some lawmakers and environmental groups the Bureau of Land Management plans to lease out the area all at once starting in August. Bente Birkeland reports from Denver.

1,000 acres of formerly privately owned land has been added to Cheyenne Mountain State Park, located in southwest Colorado Springs. The Cheyenne Mountain State Park Service held a public meeting Tuesday evening to discuss plans for the park’s newly acquired property. KRCC’s Rachael DeWitt attended the meeting and has this report.

The 302nd Airlift Wing is an Air Force Reserve Command unit stationed at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
