Economic Forecast

Legislative economists say Colorado will lag the country as it recovers from the recession. Last month the state had its highest unemployment rate since the early 1980s, but economists do point to some positive signs. Bente Birkeland has more from the state capitol.

Touring the Vestas Tower Factory in Pueblo

Wind tower manufacturing giant Vestas opened a new factory south of Pueblo earlier this year. Two accidents, one of them fatal, marked its first six months of operations, along with the announcement that the international company was laying off some 3000 workers in Europe. Nonetheless, Vestas created some 450 jobs in the Pueblo area, and the company’s total workforce at all of its Colorado facilities totals about 1600. KRCC’s Shanna Lewis has this look at the Pueblo factory.

Round-Up: Studying military suicides, Amendment 62, and more

Researchers hope a new $17 million, 3-year study will help them reduce rising numbers of suicides in the military by determining for the first time which programs work and which don’t…Voters in Colorado will decide November 3rd on Amendment 62, also known as the “personhood amendment”…and, the outsourcing company Affiliated Computer Services Inc. says it plans to hire 450 people for its call center operations in Colorado Springs.
