Extra Big Something: Listen to Quetzal Here Then Go See Them on Friday!

World Music Series 2009QuetzalWorld Music Series 2009 kicks off June 12 with a free performance by Quetzal. Their music combines Mexican and Cuban rhythms, jazz, and rock behind the powerful vocals of siblings Martha and Gabriel Gonzalez. The group was formed in East Los Angeles by guitarist-composer Quetzal Flores, who wanted the band to not only have a unique sound, but also a social consciousness. They have been hailed by Los Lobos and others as the new torch bearers of Chicano music. The World Music Series is presented by PPLD, Colorado College, and KRCC Concerts. There will be two more free shows in the series this summer: La Fanfare du Belgistan on July 17 and Issa Bagayogo on August 6.

Listen to Quetzal perform Migra
