Tonight’s opening at the Fine Arts Center features a series of photographs by Peruvian photographer and video artist Diego Lama. We featured these photos as one of our first posts on The Big Something back in may. Check them out again here and then go see them (they’re big!) along with all the other great new exhibitions to tonight!

Tariana Navas-Nieves, Curator of Hispanic and Native American Art for the Fine Arts Center, gave KRCC a sneak peak of one of the FAC’s latest acquisitions, a gift of six photographs by Peruvian Photographer Diego Lama.
Says Navas-Nieves:
He started as a video artist and then he also started doing photography. The great thing about his work is that he brings together theater and photography. Each one of these is of a historical place of restricted access in Peru. So he takes these photographs of beautiful, dramatic places with really dramatic lighting. And then he incorporates a figure. So when you see them against this backdrop, it really forces the viewer to create your own narrative. The simplicity of the bodies against the really rich backgrounds makes a great contrast.
(Friends, if you love The Big Something we kindly ask you to renew, join for the first time or give a little something extra to KRCC online as we plow through our Fall fund-drive. Please include a note that you enjoy The Big Something. Thanks! thebigsomething@krcc.org)
Thanks for the walk through, very engaging work.
