The Man Who Beat the White Stripes

Jeremy Facknitz Cover

While it might be a slight exaggeration to say he “beat” them, Detroit native Jeremy Facknitz was a member of the The Ottomans when he and his band beat out The White Stripes for the Detroit Music Awards “Best Alternative Band” award in 2001.

A solo act since 2003, Facknitz now calls Colorado Springs home (via Boston) and will play tonight with the Charlie Milo Trio as part of KRCC’s ongoing Studio Bee live local music showcase at the Pikes Peak Center.

You can hear three songs performed live here at KRCC with an interview by Jeanette Hohman, host of the local music show Surround Sounds on Thursday evening. (Right-click on the link to download or just click the play button to stream.)
