KRCC presents an evening with
NPR's Scott Simon
When I lived in San Francisco in the late-1990s, my favorite place to unwind was the Musee Mecanique, a big room full of old arcade amusements, automatons, games and the like located in a big beautiful room at the Cliff House overlooking Ocean Beach and the Pacific Ocean.
Shortly after I left San Francisco, the Musee was evicted and ultimately relocated to Pier 45. I hadn’t visited since its move, but decided to stop by on a recent visit and take some pictures. Though the location is far less magical, the amusements remain as wondrous as ever.
(Thanks for your feedback. We take it all to heart. Leave a comment or write to us: thebigsomething@krcc.org. Thanks!
I noticed that we do not have 105.7 this morning. When will you be back…CH

I wonder were those fighting robots the forerunner to “Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots”?

I feel all rested from my quick San Francisco vacation! Thanks! There was a terrifying ‘Laughing Lady’ at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland when I was a small girl. She seemed ENORMOUS. I saw her one final time as an adult, and was surprised how short (and tacky) she seemed. I loved thinking of myself as that innocent little girl…
